About Simple Tech Folks
Simple Tech Folks is an independent publisher of plain-English guides about phones, tablets and everyday technology, written for adults in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond — and for the family members who help them decide.
How we research
Every guide starts from primary sources and links to them, so you can check our work. The ones we rely on most:
- Manufacturers' own specifications and support documentation (Apple, Google, Samsung, Amazon and others)
- Carriers' published plan terms and prices
- Federal Trade Commission (FTC) consumer guidance on scams
- Federal Communications Commission (FCC) consumer guides
Prices, rules and product details change, so each guide shows the date it was last updated, and we revisit guides when the facts move.
Who writes our guides
Guides are written and checked by the Simple Tech Folks editorial team. We are not a phone carrier, retailer or tech-support service, and we will never ask for remote access to your devices or for your passwords.
